Create a nook!

Nook is defined as:
A small corner formed by two walls

I define my recently created nook as my oasis.

This is my new favorite place in our home.

I took an unused corner in my computer room that measures 5' by 4' and converted it into a space all for me

One day I was looking for a semi quiet place to read in my home.

I did not have a place that I could comfortably read.

I found this corner in our computer area to be underused, cluttered and uninviting.

PLUS this area was in direct line from our front door and always looked so blah.

In literally 1 hour, I was able to create my nook

I shopped in my home

and found an underused rocker in my living room, a table , a lamp, 2 large baskets for magazines and my curio cabinet that I felt was not being properly adorned

I decluttered and then moved it all into this corner, added my favorite pictures (the bright one with the kids heads and trees was my grandma's and she had it hanging in her home as long as I remember), favorite books plus the two tin hangings are from my favorite book my dad read to me, magazines (back issues of Martha Stewart from my friend that I still need to pay back).

I then filled my curio with meaningful stuff, like a crystal bowl from our wedding, my favorite greeting card framed, a shell to remind me of our favorite place, the beach, and other meaningful goodies

I even was able to hang my key collection (found keys in button boxes) and a few pictures (of my favorite people) along with my cats meow collection (of the places we visited) on the plate rail above

I sit here each day

Sometimes with a cup of tea

Sometimes so I can talk to my husband (I even find him sitting here too)

Sometimes while I am making to do lists

Sometimes while I read

Sometimes while I do nothing... because I can, in my own space in my home

So how will you make a nook in your home?

Remember it does not need to be big and does not even need to be private

Take a look around your home and see what you can find to use in your nook

Currently in the shop we have a club chair that swivels and rocks, a small side table, a corner hutch and assorted picture frames and lamps oh and who can forget BASKETS!
